We Are Fire Protection Specialists

TasFire Equipment (TFE) has been operating for over 45 years. We specialise in the sale, maintenance and repair of portable fire protection equipment in commercial buildings.

We operate in Tasmania on a state-wide basis with offices located in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport. Additionally, we stock a vast range of fire safety (including bushfire safety products) equipment and personal protective equipment suitable for the general public for homes, vehicles and boats.

Fire Equipment Installation

We specialise in the installation of fire extinguishers and fire blankets in Tasmanian workplaces. All of our staff are fully trained, accredited and up to speed with the latest regulations and standards regarding the installation of portable fire equipment.

Fire Equipment Inspections

Fire equipment inspections is our core business. We inspect fire extinguishers, fire blankets, fire hose reels, fire hydrants, lay flat fire hose and fire doors in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards. We travel state wide servicing all towns in Tasmania including the Bass Strait islands. We also carry out inspection of equipment fitted to vehicles, machinery and vessels. TasFire Equipment is a Det Norske Veritas (DNV) quality assured business.

Fire Equipment Repairs

Our staff are trained to be able to repair the full range of equipment that we install or inspect to ensure they meet the minimum standards required.

Extinguisher Refilling / Testing

TasFire Equipment has fully equipped workshops located in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie dedicated for extinguisher filling and testing. Did you know that fire extinguishers are pressure vessels that are required to be pressure tested every five years? (similar to the requirements for gas cylinders).

Fire Hydrant Flow Testing

TasFire Equipment has fully calibrated flow testing equipment in each of our centres. We can flow test hydrants in accordance with the requirements in the relevant Australian Standards or can take specific readings for a particular reason. We carry out hydrant flow testing for building owners and councils alike.

Fire Hose Repair / Testing

We can test, patch, re-couple and assemble various different types and sizes of lay flat fire hose. In fact in our fully equipped workshops we maintain fire hose for many of Tasmania’s local Fire Brigades!

COVID-19 Update from TasFire Equipment

In line with the easing of restrictions, TasFire Equipment has developed a COVID-19 workplace safety plan, as required under the Tasmanian Government’s COVID-19 Safe Workplaces Framework.

This allows us to return to our full range of services and means that all clients on our preventative maintenance schedule will continue to be visited by our technicians for the maintenance of fire protection equipment. To enable us to safely conduct site inspections and for us to comply with our safety plan there are a number of precautions that we are taking to reduce the risks presented by COVID-19. These include:

Our regional shopfronts are open to the public however physical distancing rules apply and we ask that anyone displaying any COVID-19 symptoms do not visit our sites. Contact details will be recorded for all those who visit our shopfronts to enable contact tracing. For anyone not wishing to visit our shopfronts in person, delivery can be arranged for any equipment needed.

We will keep you informed of any further changes to our services in light of new or different advice from government authorities.
